Children
From a young age children in the camps are given the chance to be engaged in child play centres – there they are motivated to draw pictures and to write creatively on their own…
There they can play games and have fun. But now they are closing many of these centres because funds are being cut. What will happen to the children if they are all shut? Rabin / PhotoVoice / LWF

We think that the children born in the camps will help us in the future to return to our country. They do not know about Bhutan but we elder ones have to teach them lessons about the Bhutanese situation. Bhimma / PhotoVoice / LWF
Small children in the camps see adults fighting and they copy them. Sitting so close to each other in the camps is not good because we do not get good air, people become frustrated and they fight. Aite Maya / PhotoVoice / LWF

These children were born in the camps. They play happily because they do not know about Bhutan - they do not have sad feelings in their hearts because they do not understand about the situation in the refugee camps. Bishnu Maya / PhotoVoice / LWF
Some of the children in the camps roam free and make lots of noise. Madan / PhotoVoice / LWF
Children born in the camps do not know anything- we are not able to teach them practical things. If we ask, ‘Where do we get milk from?’, they say 'from a bicycle' because they see milk being carried to the huts on a bike. Yethi Raj / PhotoVoice / LWF

Small children are innocent and do not know about the history of our forefathers, Bhutan and the refugees. Sometimes my small sister askes our parents who made them come here to this refugee camp. Mon Maya / PhotoVoice / LWF

In the camps we all live so closely together that the children learn to be friends with everyone. They play games and they learn through these games to live happily together

Children in the camps play lots of games that we did not know in Bhutan because we lived far away from each other. In Bhutan we did not have the chance to meet with all of our friends as often.

In our society everyone loves and takes proper care of children as they are considered to be the future family holders and nation builders. Pasang / PhotoVoice / LWF
Young people in the camps have little to do because there are few resources – not even a football. There is a small amount of facilities for a small number of children. Khina / PhotoVoice / LWF
